Ok, it's January 2, so I'm one day behind, but that's ok considering, how long I've been wanting to do this...become a real-deal blogger. I've been waiting because I don't have my logo or my page graphically enhanced like those blogs that I enjoy. This morning, I woke well before the sun with this thought racing through my mind and literally rolling me out of bed..."every journey starts with one, single step."
My friends jokingly refer to me as "Che-prah" because of my admiration of lady O, well that and my "Oprah-fied" facebook profile pic setting. As I watched yesterday, in eager anticipation of OWN, I was so inspired to see the realization of such a grand dream. While Oprah came from a very modest background, one thing she has always had an abundance of was vision. I too, have a lot of vision, but unlike Oprah...I haven't always acted upon those visions. I've gotten tied down with the demands of being a wife, mother, daughter, friend, volunteer and watcher of reality tv...always gotta see what the Real Housewives are up to! Yesterday, while watching OWN, my "aha moment" was, If Oprah can start her own network in the midst of everything she's doing to impact the world, surely, I can start checking some goals off my list...starting with my blog. Oprah, I am ready to "OWN it." I am ready to make things happen; 2011 will be my year of action!
So here I am, taking the first step with the launch of my blog "The Fabulous Family!"
I've had this idea for a family blog for a very long time. The most funny, inspiring, heart-breaking and memorable experiences that I have all occured with family. While families can bring the most joy to your life, they can also bring immense pain and hurt. However, at the end of the day, when you need them most, they are the ones that will be there. Now, that's not always a good thing, lol, but at least you're not alone. Whether your family is large like the Waltons, ginormous like the Duggars, loveable like the Huxtables, talented like the Jacksons, intriguing like the Carringtons, wholesome like the Cunninghams, dysfunctional like the Bundys, struggling like the Evans, balling like the Ewings, extended like the Banks, single like the Gilmores, blended like the Bradys, biracial like the Samuels (Seal & Heidi...still no biracial family on TV), adoptive like the Goldenblatts, gorgeous like the Kardashians, quirky like the Addams, interesting like the Walkers, country like the Clampetts, swanky like the van der Woodsens, powerful like the Obamas or a mix of everything that a Modern Family brings, one thing is for certain...there is nothing like family and that is a fabulous thing!
This is how it will start. Goal one is done. Join with me on this journey and I promise that just like with families and Oprah, this will be an evolving and amazing ride!
